Thai Clothes is the second single from Konstantin Schimanowski's upcoming E.P. VAILA, which will be released on 20 October.
It is promoted by the renowned agency Boogie Drugstore in Paris.
The French Rolling Stone wrote about the first single "Into the Flow":
„Enlivened by epic orchestrations and sprinkled with autumnal melancholy.“
„… gentle, haunting and beautiful vocals.“
Thai Clothes begins with a kiss. It also begins with a crisis.
„This song I can pinpoint to a single night, after which it was written entirely.“
One friend falling into a deep crisis and the other sharing intimate kisses. Both disappearing afterwards.
Both very close and very far away at the same time.
But why Thai Clothes? The title sounds rather strange.
„Actually I don’t know, it sounds a little bit like die close to me, but it is not entirely clear whether this was my intention or something else. It just felt right to sing at that moment.“
Maybe to get close to someone, you need to get rid of those clothes metaphorically speaking. Your society mask, and that is a very different process for everyone - even causing panic or traumatic events for some. So after a beautiful hideaway you leave and put you soul clothes on again.
In anyway the resulting sound is a perfect ride with fine rays of glittering 80’s light sprinkled all across it. So smooth and sweet that one should be careful unraveling it’s true bitter-sweet nature by reading the lyrics crooned into it.
Taking apart
Beautiful lives
Listen the heart
It flies
Leaving the loathing
Inside
Drifting above
A violent sky
The accompanying music video uses the uniquely surreal landscape of Shetland to create a tension between closeness and distance that makes for true eroticism. It's as if one is approaching closeness and retreating again in order to give it a new chance over and over again until the bridge is crossed.
And so the somewhat strange-sounding chorus sings of true undisguised closeness at the end and Konstantin's words become "kuuu" sounds full of wordless beauty.
